Herkimer diamonds are not true diamonds. Rather, they are clear quartz that have a natural diamond shape. They are named after Herkimer County, found in New York State, where the majority of these crystals are mined.

Like other quartz, Herkimer diamonds are associated with positive energy and versatility.

Herkimer diamonds also make a great alternative birthstone for April.
