Welcome to Talks to Animals, my creative venture and shop. Talks to Animals is for the free spirited. Those that curiously wander but never forget the people and things that have crossed their path. Their jewelry honors what is beautiful in the world and reminds them of the things that make them happiest. Everything you will find in the shop was designed and made in small production by me, Lisa. I’m so glad you’ve stopped by.

I come from a family of do-it-yourselfers and makers, dabbling in drawing, painting, fiber arts, and the list goes on. In 2012, I fell in love with beadweaving and no other art has taken its place since. Beadweaving is a very traditional technique that celebrates the skillfulness of the maker and the beauty of the wearer. With each piece I begin with an intention of spirit and genuine care—care in the design, the craftsmanship, and for the person to whom the piece will eventually belong. I find so much joy in letting my pieces journey out into the world and knowing where they have traveled. I draw inspiration from nature, history, and mythology. More recently, I’ve incorporated gemstones and find inspiration in their unique flaws and organic textures. The name of my shop, Talks to Animals, comes from the super power I always wish I had for as long as I can remember. I wish I could talk to animals, or more so, that they could talk to me.

I grew up in Los Angeles, CA, spent six years in the Northwest, then six years living the East Coast dream, working and making in the heart of Philadelphia. At the beginning of 2021, the West Coast called me back, and my husband my little cat, Mochi, and I put roots down in Portland, Oregon.

You can contact me through the contact page here on the website-- I welcome questions, comments, and just saying hello! If you own a Talks to Animals piece, I would love to know how you are enjoying it.
